Small Plot Details
Some very small news regarding the plot, while no official synopsis yet, but it's been rumored that the film will be about a family that goes on a camping trip but goes missing one by one after they hear strange noises in the forest.
Executive producer Michael C. Williams has also revealed that this will not be a remake.
Oh, yeah, it's not a 'remake'. You just wait. The Witch is back..
Original The Blair Witch Project filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick, producer Gregg Hale, and stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will executive produce alongside Steven Schneider, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott.
Lionsgate is reportedly aiming to begin filming this fall, with the budget expected to land around $10 million.
The Blair Witch Project Is Getting A New Reboot
The Blair Witch Project franchise is set to continue with a new addition. Lionsgate and Blumhouse announced at CinemaCon on April 10th that they are developing a new Blair Witch movie as part of a multi-film agreement to revamp "horror classics from the Lionsgate library," according to a press release.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement.
We are thrilled to kick this partnership off with a new vision for Blair Witch that will reintroduce this horror classic for a new generation. We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with them on this and other projects we look forward to revealing soon,
And Jason Blum had this to say:
I’m very grateful to Adam and the team at Lionsgate for letting us play in their sandbox, I’m a huge admirer of The Blair Witch Project, which brought the idea of found footage horror to mainstream audiences and became a true cultural phenomenon. I don’t think there would have been a Paranormal Activity had there not first been a Blair Witch, so this feels like a truly special opportunity and I’m excited to see where it leads.
I personally cannot wait, to see what they do with this new Blair Witch movie, which was one of the best movies of 1999.
I loved the original movie, especially all the marketing around it, and the 2016 version was quite decent too I thought.
Less said about Book Of Shadows, the better though...One of the worst horror sequels of all time.
