Dorothy, Tin Man, and Cannibals: Wicked of Oz Horror in 2026

Wicked of Oz movie still

Fans of the Emerald City are in for a gruesome treat this year as three new horror reimaginings of L. Frank Baum’s classic story prepare to be released - and if you didn't know, one has already been released, titled 'Gale:Yellow Brick Road'.

So, 4 in total for 2026.

Dorothy: The Haunting of Oz

Dorothy: The Haunting of Oz is a current post-production project from 22-year-old writer-director Elijah J. Alvarez, who has this to say on the project.
This movie is about my generation, how Gen Z is fractured by the internet and still trying to find ourselves while life keeps stripping pieces away. We document everything, we chase feeling, and still we can’t stop the darkness from arriving.

I took inspiration from George Lucas and the way he made American Graffiti, telling stories about the youth of his era in his own voice. At its core, Dorothy: The Haunting of Oz is about grief-shaped identity, the ways evil enters through the fractures in our lives, and what happens when the thing haunting us is also the part of ourselves we refuse to face.

For me, horror is a powerful way to explore not just defeating the monster, but learning how to live with it.
Set on Halloween night in Marin County, California, the film depicts a group of college basketball players hunted by terrifying incarnations of Dorothy, the Wicked Witch, the Tin Man, and even serial killer clowns.

The students are forced to confront their inner demons as they navigate a campus where reality collides with haunting visions of Oz.

Adrienne Tabag, Caia Bonner, Jordan Sklansky, Aziah King, Andrew Wang, Thomas Shan star.

Dorothy: The Haunting of Oz is slated for release later in 2026.

Wizard of Death: Tinman’s Rise, directed by William Stead, follows a family outing that turns deadly when the Tin Man - a heart-hungry mechanical monstrosity - rises from the ruins of Oz.

James Shenton stars as the Tin Man, with Lauren Staerck, Paul Andrew Goldsmith, Connor Horrigan, Dylan Reeves-Fellows, and Karolina Knight as Dorothy Gale.

ITN Distribution will bring the slasher to audiences soon, continuing the trend of contemporary Oz horrors started by Gale: Yellow Brick Road.

Wicked of Oz

Wicked of Oz

Wicked of Oz has been delayed a couple of times already, and in this version, a freak tornado pulls Dorothy into the wicked world of Oz just in time for the down-on-her-luck Kansas farm girl to confront Glinda, a starving cannibal.

The cast includes Kenzie Wynne, Chelsey Fuller, Patrick Sharn, Destinee Monét, Zach Lazar Hoffman, Brad Belemjian, and Carson Butcher.
