Japanese body horror movie Incomplete Chairs is heading to US audiences this month, with the disturbing 2026 film arriving exclusively on BloodStream on October 15, 2026 - directed by Kenichi Ugana, the 85-minute horror film takes the idea of obsessive craftsmanship in a particularly gruesome direction. Its central character doesn't simply make unusual furniture, he makes chairs using human bones and skin.

A chair made from human remains

Shinsuke Kujo is a talented chair craftsman whose obsession with creating the perfect piece of furniture has become completely twisted, where he attracts people to his workshop through job advertisements before killing them and using their remains as materials for his creations.

Enter Natsuko Kato, played by Ryoka Oshima, becomes interested in Kujo's furniture and eventually starts noticing things that don't add up, so she visits his workshop with Masaki Uchida, played by Akito Fujii, as questions surrounding Kujo and his work begin to grow.

Kenichi Ugana's latest horror oddity

Incomplete Chairs is written and directed by Kenichi Ugana, who has previously worked across horror and other unconventional genre projects - his filmography includes The Gesuidouz, which screened in the Midnight Madness section at the Toronto International Film Festival, as well as Visitors: Complete Edition, Love Will Tear Us Apart and The Curse.

The film also features music from Belgian post-punk and electro-rock duo Pornographie Exclusive.

Festival screenings and awards

Incomplete Chairs has already traveled through the festival circuit ahead of its US streaming release - the film had its world premiere at the 2025 SLASH Film Festival before screening at the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal, Brooklyn Horror and Grimmfest.

At Grimmfest, it picked up the award for Best SFX, while Ryu Ichinose, who plays Shinsuke Kujo, received a Special Mention for Best Actor in a Male Role.

The film will make its US streaming debut on BloodStream on October 15, 2026, and will be available through BloodStream's Early Access and rental offering, with a wider release through The Horror Collective planned for a later date.
