Wuthering Heights: The House of the Damned is a supernatural horror reimagining of Emily Brontë's 1847 novel, turning the gothic romance into a story involving ghosts, murder and human sacrifice.
Mr. Lockwood arrives at the remote Wuthering Heights during a storm looking for shelter, unaware that Catherine's ghost is still haunting the house, where Heathcliff has become obsessed with bringing Catherine back and begins using human sacrifice in the hope of giving her soul a new body.
The film is scheduled for digital release in the US on October 16, 2026, with UK theatrical listings also showing October 16. It is a UK production from EMRJ Entertainment.
A Much More Supernatural Wuthering Heights
Brontë's novel is already packed with death, obsession, revenge and the idea of Catherine and Heathcliff remaining connected beyond death, but this adaptation makes the supernatural side completely literal - catherine is an actual vengeful ghost, while Heathcliff is willing to murder people in order to satisfy her bloodlust and try to give her a new body.
Rebecca J. Matthews (also known as Becca Hirani) directs the film and is also credited as producer and editor, while the screenplay comes from Liana Failla, with Brontë credited as the original writer - Hirani has previously directed British horror films including The Elevator, The Ghost Within, The Power and Robert Returns.
The production team includes Raffaele Nocerino as director of photography, Christy Louise as production designer and Greg Birkumshaw as composer. Tish Piwowarek is the line producer.
The Cast Takes on Brontë's Characters
Ross Townsend-Green plays Lockwood, with Sky Cheema as Heathcliff, Elle O'Hara as Catherine and Nicola Wright as Nelly - the supporting cast includes Anna Coupé as Cathy, Zach Devereux as Hareton, Adrian Jieanu as Linton, Gordon Millar as Joseph, Sam Rowlands as Hindley, Simon Weir as Mr. Earnshaw and Cathy Wippell as Frances.
Elle O'Hara has another horror connection through The Baby in the Basket, while Nicola Wright has appeared in British horror productions including The Last Rite and Robert Returns.
