The García Bogliano brothers are back together making horror, and their new movie is about as far away from a normal kids' adventure as you can get - La Mancha (You're It) has released its first subtitled trailer, giving us a better look at the supernatural horror movie before it heads to the Sitges Film Festival next month.
Written and directed by Adrián García Bogliano and Ramiro García Bogliano, the film puts a group of children and teenagers inside an amusement park where a dark curse connects them to a parallel world.
La Mancha was deliberately conceived as a horror movie told from a young person's perspective, with the filmmakers removing adults from the story altogether, so the characters are left to deal with whatever is happening inside the amusement park themselves.
The official premise is: a group of children and teenagers become trapped by a curse inside an amusement park, with the curse connecting their world to another one.
A 15-Year García Bogliano Reunion
The movie also marks the first feature collaboration between Adrián and Ramiro García Bogliano in 15 years.
The brothers previously worked together on films including Rooms for Tourists, Cold Sweat and Penumbra, as well as television projects, and their last feature collaboration was Gotas de sangre (Drops of Blood) in 2011, making La Mancha something of a return to their shared filmmaking roots.
There is also a geographical reunion happening here, as Ramiro has been based in Argentina for years, while Adrián's filmmaking career has taken him elsewhere, including work in the United States, so La Mancha brings them back to filmmaking in Argentina and back to the sort of independent genre cinema they made earlier in their careers.
The movie was shot primarily at República de los Niños, a historic theme park in La Plata, Argentinam and the park also has a personal connection to the brothers - they spent part of their childhood in La Plata, so returning to a location with those associations and then turning it into the setting for a supernatural horror movie adds another layer to the project.
La Mancha uses a largely emerging cast, with several performers having little or no previous screen experience - the main cast includes Asia García Oliva, Babette Wallovits, Ennio García Oliva, Juan Sebastián Albini and Genaro Aguilera Ocampo, with Emilia Wolcan and others also appearing.
After its sold-out world premiere at BAFICI in April, La Mancha has now been selected for the Noves Visions competition at the 57th Sitges Film Festival, which runs from October 8 to 18, 2026 - the film runs 72 minutes and is an Argentina-Mexico production from Salto de Fe Films, with international sales handled by VDF Films.
