Some People Have Watched 'Keeper' Already

Some horror gods have already had the chance to watch Keeper, which releases this month, and here's some quotes from them.

“Once again, Osgood Perkins blends new “fear” and “surprise.” He is the “wizard” of horror.”- Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear, Death Stranding).

“Keeper is pure Osgood Perkins – Horror Origami that skillfully folds into itself, shifting shapes: Mutating comedy into horror and horror into human drama.” – Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Frankenstein).

“A terrifying, ghostly descent into madness.” – James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring).

“A twisted vision. Osgood Perkins further establishes himself as a formidable voice in horror.” – Damien Leone (Terrifier).

“Both haunting and hypnotic – Keeper is a sensory experience of pure terror.” – Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, Alien: Romulus).

Keeper, the dark new nightmare from director Osgood Perkins (Longlegs, The Monkey), is completely wrapped up in top secret fashion at the moment, with a mysterious marketing campaign and only a select few being given the chance to screen it ahead of release. The whole idea is to keep the movie a mystery, which is something NEON has gotten very good at.

But a handful of people have seen Osgood Perkins’ Keeper, namely a host of horror masters in their own right who have nothing but good things to say about the movie. We’re talking the likes of Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, James Wan, Damien Leone, and Bong Joon Ho, and we’ve collected together their rave reviews to whet your appetite for Perkins’ latest trip.

James Wan calls the film a “terrifying descent into madness,” while Guillermo del Toro calls Keeper “horror origami that skillfully folds into itself.” Hideo Kojima describes Perkins as a new “wizard of horror,” and Eli Roth compares Keeper to a “surreal David Lynch movie.”

Here’s a selection of rave reviews from some of today’s top horror filmmakers, which should be more than enough to get every horror fan hyped about the mysterious new movie…

“Both haunting and hypnotic – Keeper is a sensory experience of pure terror.” – Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, Alien: Romulus).

“Jesus…Through his own distinct framing style, [Perkins]  frames the human form as fragile-on the verge of being severed. A natural talent for discomfort. Discomfort becomes anxiety, then transforms into fear. He has already established a style of his own. Our faith in the human body, in the human face, quietly begins to collapse. Alongside Ari Aster, a most uncanny eruption of talent.” – Bong Joon Ho (The Host, Parasite, Mickey 17).

“Haunting, creepy and beautiful. Like a surreal David Lynch movie. Totally original and unforgettable.” – Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, The Green Inferno, Thanksgiving).

High praise indeed.

Osgood Perkins Speaks About 'Keeper'

In an interview, director Osgood Perkins has spoken a bit about 'Keeper' and had this to say.
There are certain hinges in any relationship. It’s our first time meeting the parents, it’s our first time in the country. It just focuses on one of those, and it gets pretty ragged. Something lives at the cabin. Of course it does. It’s been there a minute, and it’s had its way with lots of people before it has its way with Liz and Malcolm.

I’m taking the opportunity to examine, ‘What’s the worst version of a man in a relationship, and how does [Liz] bring her own stuff to it?’ I think that Keeper created an opportunity to find the monster in a relationship.

Promotional Video Released

So Neon have released a promotion video for 'Keeper' which is over an hour long! And it's a bit strange.

It's 66 minutes and 6 seconds, that has short clips on every minute that ends with the number 6.

Strange, or pretty cool? I'll let you decide.

'Keeper' To Be 3rd Osgood Perkins Movie Released In 13 Months

Osgood Perkins isn't slowing down any time soon, after releasing Longlegs in 2024 and The Monkey in 2025, he is going to be back in October of 2025 with Keeper.

If you have watched The Monkey at a theater you may have seen a teaser for Keeper that shows after the end credits roll, though I am sure a lot of people would have missed it.
“The post-credit thing that we’re offering is a glimpse at the next movie that we actually made in between ‘Longlegs’ and ‘The Monkey,’ which is such an insane thing to say, we’ve done so much work in the last two years,” said Perkins. “This movie of ours called ‘Keeper,’ which NEON is releasing in October, and if you stick around after ‘The Monkey’ in theaters, there’s a little of teaser for that.”

Perkins describes the film as a single-location, cabin-in-the-woods horror film, but it’s really a relationship horror movie, and starts with oh, we’re going to his country house for the first time, and then suddenly, things go off the rails.

The synopsis reads:

“Keeper,” starring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland, follows a couple as they escape for a romantic anniversary weekend at a secluded cabin only to be haunted by the presence of an unspeakable evil that unveils the cabin’s horrifying secrets.
Not too much more is known yet about the film, but considering how different Longlegs and The Monkey are it will be interesting to see what Perkins delivers in the horror genre next.
