A new generation discovers that some experiments should never be completed.
Synopsis
As a child, Herbert West witnesses the impossible when his father Peter successfully reanimates his dead mother Judith inside a secret basement laboratory - only for the experiment to turn into a nightmare when Judith attacks him, forcing Peter to shoot her before she can kill their son.
The traumatic event leaves Herbert permanently changed, but one horrifying image stays with him forever: his mother’s finger twitching after death.
Thirty years later, Herbert West has become a brilliant but secretive surgeon who continues his father's obsession with defeating death, and when pathologist Kate Locke arrives in town, she is drawn into West’s world after discovering his hidden experiments and his breakthrough serum capable of bringing dead tissue back to life.
Instead of being horrified, Kate becomes fascinated by the possibilities and joins Herbert inside his mysterious mansion laboratory, but when their experiments begin to fail, West realizes the problem is not the science - it is the condition of the dead. To truly succeed, they need something much fresher.
As their obsession grows, Herbert and Kate begin pushing the boundaries between life and death, discovering that some things are not meant to be brought back.

About the Film
Herbert West: Reanimator is a contemporary reimagining of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic 1922 horror story, bringing the infamous scientist and his experiments into a new psychological horror setting.
Directed by Michael Grossman and written by Jade Sandberg Wallis, the film is being produced by Woodlake Entertainment as the first in a planned series of elevated genre projects.
The story takes inspiration from Lovecraft’s original tale while offering a darker character-driven approach, focusing on Herbert West’s obsession with overcoming mortality and the devastating consequences of scientific ambition.
Fans of the franchise will recognise the connection to Re-Animator, the cult classic adaptation directed by Stuart Gordon and starring Jeffrey Combs, which became a landmark of body horror and spawned two sequels.
This new version aims to reinvent the material for a modern audience, blending supernatural horror, science fiction, and psychological terror while exploring the question of whether conquering death is humanity’s greatest achievement - or its greatest mistake.
