Paraguayan gothic horror Confined (Also known as The Narrow House and La casa angosta) has revealed its first official images, giving us the first proper look at the upcoming supernatural thriller before its trailer arrives next month.
Directed by Armando Aquino and Hernán Moyano, the film was shot in Asunción and is currently in post-production, with plans for an international festival run toward the end of 2026 before a regional theatrical release - the first trailer will make its debut at Comic Con Paraguay on October 10, where the filmmakers and cast are also scheduled to appear.
Lizzie Gómez Leads the Cast
Lizzie Gómez plays Salma, a young woman attempting to get away from a toxic relationship who accepts a job caring for a dying elderly man, and moving into his old mansion initially appears to give Salma some distance from the problems she has been dealing with, but she starts discovering secrets connected to the house and encountering unexplained presences and supernatural events.
The cast also includes Diro Romero, Natalia Cálcena, Matías Miranda, Lia Love, Alejandra Cabral Valinotti and Alberto Jara - Romero and Cálcena both appeared in Narciso, while Miranda previously appeared in Sé valiente and Love in No entres.
Two Directors With Plenty of Genre Experience
The movie also brings together two Paraguayan filmmakers with different genre credits.
Aquino has previously worked on Ore Ru, Leal 2 and Renacer Albirrojo, while Moyano directed The Red Book Ritual: Gates of Hell and Sudor frío, as well as the animated Belisario, el pequeño gran héroe del cosmos. Moyano also wrote the screenplay for Confined - Aquino is also pulling double duty behind the camera as cinematographer - it also doesn't seem to be sticking to one particular type of horror, either.
The filmmakers have cited Hereditary, The Others and Drag Me to Hell among the genre influences, while the movie combines paranormal horror with elements of body horror - the idea is to keep the supernatural material tied to Salma's increasingly unstable situation rather than simply throwing a series of unrelated scares at the audience.
Paraguayan Music Adds Another Local Touch
The production is also using music from Paraguayan artists rather than treating the country's identity as something that only exists in the location - the soundtrack will include “Sueño de tus ojos” by legendary Paraguayan rock duo IODI, along with “Crucigrama” by pop singer Lia Love, who also appears in the cast.
The first official trailer will be unveiled on October 10, 2026, during a dedicated panel at Comic Con Paraguay at the Centro de Convenciones Mariscal - the panel is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. and will feature Aquino, Moyano, producers and members of the cast, giving audiences their first chance to see the movie in motion and hear more about the production directly from the people behind it.
