Bowels of Hell 2026 movie still

Your bathroom is no longer a safe place.

Synopsis

Bowels of Hell turns a simple bathroom nightmare into a bizarre and blood-soaked horror where a woman’s personal trauma collides with a supernatural curse that transforms everyday toilets into deadly monsters - Malu, an event planner struggling with deep psychological scars from a traumatic incident that left her with a complicated relationship with bathrooms, and already dealing with personal struggles and a difficult relationship with her non-binary teenage child, Malu finds herself taking on a new job organizing a gender reveal party for a pregnant influencer living in her building.

But when residents begin reporting strange problems with their bathroom equipment, something far more sinister starts taking shape, and what appears to be a normal household inconvenience soon becomes a horrifying supernatural outbreak, as toilets become violent creatures and the building descends into complete chaos.

As the situation spirals into a disgusting battle for survival, Malu must confront her own fears, family conflicts, and the bizarre force threatening everyone around her.

About Bowels of Hell

Bowels of Hell (original title: Privadas de suas vidas) is a 2026 Brazilian surreal horror comedy which blends social satire, body horror, and outrageous toilet-based humour - the film takes an absurd premise and uses it to explore deeper themes surrounding grief, motherhood, identity, trauma, and human connection.

While the film embraces deliberately disgusting humour and extreme practical effects, beneath the mayhem is a story about relationships and the ways people attempt to deal with pain, shame, and personal struggles, where the filmmakers combine grotesque comedy with a style reminiscent of early splatstick horror, creating a wild mixture of social commentary and outrageous genre excess.

Critics have described the film as a “gruesomely entertaining” mix of satire and literal toilet humour, with its bold approach making it a standout entry for horror and midnight movie audiences.
