If you thought Rob Jabbaz's The Sadness was nasty, his next film could give it some serious competition, and the first teaser for Crossed has arrived, bringing Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows notoriously violent comic book to the big screen, where the source material has never been known for holding back.

Jabbaz is directing, with Ennis himself writing the screenplay based on the original 10-issue comic series - Ennis is also the creator of The Boys and Preacher, so subtlety probably wasn't high on the list of priorities here.

Crossed takes place in a world devastated by a pandemic, but these aren't your usual flesh-eating zombies, because the infected develop a cross-shaped rash on their faces and become violent, sadistic killers who still retain their intelligence.

The film follows Stan and Cindy, played by Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story), as they lead a group of survivors attempting to escape north, with the supporting cast including Bob Morley, Chido Nwokocha, Spenser Granese and Ethan Jones Romero.

The original series became infamous for its graphic violence and deeply unpleasant subject matter, and Jabbaz already has experience with this sort of material after The Sadness drew inspiration from Ennis' comic.

There's no release date for Crossed yet, but the first teaser is available to watch below.
