Camp is back - and it’s bloodier than ever.
Synopsis
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a slasher comedy that follows a queer filmmaker tapped to direct the latest installment of a once-beloved horror franchise, and determined to reinvent the series, she becomes obsessed with convincing the original movie’s legendary “final girl” to return for the new chapter.
What starts as a bold creative vision soon spirals into something far more volatile. As admiration turns into fixation, the relationship between director and star intensifies into a chaotic mix of rivalry, desire, and psychological unraveling.
Set against a backdrop of campy carnage and meta-horror satire, the film promises blood, obsession, and midnight-movie madness in equal measure.

About Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a sapphic meta horror film written and directed by Jane Schoenbrun, the filmmaker behind We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and I Saw the TV Glow, and the project pays homage to 1980s slasher cinema while reimagining the genre through themes of identity, queer longing, fandom, celebrity mythology, and psychological disintegration.
The film has officially received an R rating from the MPA for “bloody violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use and some language,” signaling an unapologetically graphic and provocative horror experience inspired by exploitation-era slashers.
Schoenbrun described the project as their attempt at creating “the sleepover classic” they wished existed growing up.
''I make movies I wish existed when I was a kid,” Schoenbrun explained. “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is my best attempt at the ‘sleepover classic’: an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store.”
The filmmaker also teased the film’s extreme horror elements, revealing: “It is very important in the very first scene of the movie that there’d be a huge fucking geyser of blood.”
Discussing Gillian Anderson’s casting, Schoenbrun added: “Growing up, I was a huge X-Files obsessive from third grade on. It was my life.”
Produced by MUBI and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, the film positions itself as both a loving tribute to slasher cinema and a surreal deconstruction of horror fandom itself.
