About Bury the Devil
Bury the Devil is a supernatural horror film directed by Adam O'Brien and written by Brad Hodson, Adam O'Brien, and John Petrizzi, and the film has gained attention for being shot as a single continuous take, unfolding in real time over approximately 86 minutes.
The one-shot format places audiences directly alongside the protagonist for the entire ordeal, intensifying the film’s atmosphere and sense of panic.
Director Adam O’Brien explained the approach behind the film:
“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film. We are with her every step and mis-step she takes – through the unravelling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Rather than leaning heavily into traditional possession movie structure, the film reportedly focuses on claustrophobic tension, isolation, and psychological dread as the supernatural threat slowly reveals itself.
The project premiered at FrightFest Glasgow in 2026, where early reactions praised its pacing, immersive atmosphere, and technically ambitious execution.
Bury the Devil is also intended to serve as the first installment in a planned horror trilogy.
