Synopsis
Kijsada Paradise is a Thai supernatural horror film that blends friendship, guilt, and survival horror against the eerie backdrop of an abandoned water park haunted by dark legends.
The story follows Taek and his group of friends as they sneak into the infamous Kijsada Paradise water park in Chiang Mai to play a late-night game of hide-and-seek, and the abandoned attraction is rumored to be cursed, filled with ghost stories and tragic rumors that locals refuse to discuss.
During the game, one of the group’s friends - Jod, a boy with special needs - mysteriously disappears inside the decaying park and when the group later encounters what appears to be Jod, they realize something is horribly wrong.
About Kijsada Paradise
Kijsada Paradise is aThai horror film directed by Phontharis Chotkijsadarsopon, best known for the Pee Nak horror franchise, and the film combines supernatural horror with emotional themes surrounding friendship, social isolation, and guilt.
The project draws inspiration from real ghost stories surrounding abandoned water parks in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and director Phontharis revealed that the idea originated after discovering an abandoned water park location and realizing the setting had rarely been explored in horror cinema.
“I had seen films about abandoned amusement parks before, but not about an abandoned water park,” the director explained. “Kijsada Paradise is a horror film about friendship and the coexistence of people with different backgrounds in society.”
The screenplay reportedly took nearly a year to develop, with extensive location scouting throughout Chiang Mai helping shape the film’s atmosphere and mythology.
Produced by Taweewat Wantha following the success of Death Whisperer and Death Whisperer 2, the film is one of the first major projects from newly launched Thai genre label 13 Studio, a production company dedicated to thriller and horror filmmaking.
