Synopsis
Dead Eyes is an Australian first-person survival horror film that throws audiences directly into the nightmare through a completely immersive POV perspective, and follows Sean, a young man still haunted by the childhood death of his younger sister Lilly, who drowned years earlier under tragic circumstances.
Alongside his fiancée Grace, his friend Eric, and Eric’s girlfriend Kate, Sean travels deep into a remote Australian forest, but Sean has another reason for returning to the wilderness - he is searching for his estranged father Paul, a scientist who disappeared after Lilly’s death, and when the group discovers Paul’s hidden research facility, they uncover a horrifying secret.

About Dead Eyes
Dead Eyes is aiming to deliver a unique take on the survival horror genre through an entirely first-person cinematic experience - running at 81 minutes, the film removes the traditional distance between viewer and character by locking the audience into Sean’s perspective from beginning to end.
Unlike traditional found-footage horror though, Dead Eyes was filmed using professional cinema equipment, including a custom head-mounted Sony VENICE Rialto system designed to replicate the movement and focus of the human eye - rather than watching someone struggle through a nightmare, the audience experiences it alongside them, blending wilderness survival horror, science-fiction experimentation, and creature feature element.

Dead Eyes premiered at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas on March 12, 2026, where it gained some attention for its ambitious technical approach and unusual first-person filmmaking style, and the film later continued its festival run at Fantastic Film Festival Australia and the Gold Coast Film Festival, before receiving its UK premiere as part of the Tubi FrightFest 2026 selection in London.
