Synopsis
The Nameless Ballad follows Sam Gallo, a 27-year-old British musician whose life has been transformed by the unexpected success of his debut album - but behind the fame, Sam is struggling - battling a severe creative block, pressure from his management, and an increasing dependence on prescription medication, Sam returns to the isolated Italian countryside where he spent his childhood summers, hoping to reconnect with the inspiration he has lost.
But the secluded house that was meant to offer peace quickly becomes a place of fear, as strange presences begin appearing around him, and as these supernatural forces seem to feed on Sam’s anxiety, pain, and desperation to create again, reality begins to collapse around him.
Alongside his partner Tania, Sam is pulled into an unsettling nightmare where the line between artistic inspiration, personal trauma, and something far more sinister becomes impossible to separate.
About The Nameless Ballad
The Nameless Ballad is a supernatural psychological horror film from Italian filmmaker Federico Zampaglione, returning to the genre following Shadow and The Well, which explores creativity, obsession, and the darker side of artistic ambition, using supernatural horror as a reflection of personal struggles and emotional turmoil.
Inspired partly by Zampaglione’s own experiences as a musician and singer, the director has described The Nameless Ballad as his most personal project to date - blending his passion for music with a disturbing story about fear, isolation, and the search for inspiration.
Written by Federico Zampaglione and Barbara Baraldi (Dylan Dog), the film combines psychological horror with supernatural elements, creating a dark and atmospheric journey into the mind of an artist pushed to breaking point.
Zampaglione said:
Although this film is deeply rooted in the supernatural, this is probably my most personal film to date, because it is inspired by my work as a musician and singer.
The movie is produced by SOMIC Film, with worldwide distribution handled by Minerva Pictures.
