The Doll Ghawiah releases in Indonesia in October

The creepy doll from The Doll is back, and this time things look considerably darker - The Doll Ghawiah is the latest Indonesian horror movie from Hitmaker Studios, bringing the franchise back to the haunted doll that started it all while introducing a new family, a new story and another rather 

And yes, the doll has a rather unpleasant habit of moving around without anybody touching it.

A New Family Gets Stuck With Ghawiah

The story takes place in 1988, when the Pranata family move from Jakarta to Bandung. Arya and Evi, played by Darius Sinathrya and Titi Kamal, are trying to build a new life with their daughters Gita and Nala, played by Aisyah Aqilah and Laura Moane.

Things start going wrong after Nala is involved in an accident around Babakan Siliwangi, where she encounters a mysterious little girl in the forest who is carrying a doll called Ghawiah, and that meeting sets off a series of strange events that eventually follow the doll back towards the family.

The doll also doesn't seem particularly interested in staying in one place, and Hitmaker Studios has been teasing the idea that Ghawiah keeps moving from one person to another, while increasingly strange events begin affecting the people around it.

Sara Wijayanto Returns.

Wijayanto appeared in the original The Doll, so her return gives Ghawiah a direct link to the franchise's first film, although exactly how Laras fits into the new story is still being kept fairly quiet - the rest of the main cast includes Titi Kamal as Evi, Darius Sinathrya as Arya, Aisyah Aqilah as Gita and Laura Moane as Nala, while the wider cast also includes Fara Shakila, Putri Patricia, Ananda George and Rendy Khrisna.

Guntur Soeharjanto Takes Over the Franchise

Guntur Soeharjanto directs The Doll Ghawiah from a screenplay by Riheam Junianti, with Rocky Soraya producing - Soeharjanto has already spent plenty of time working in Indonesian horror, having directed movies including Lampor: Keranda Terbang, Suzzanna: Malam Jumat Kliwon and The Haunted Apartment: Miss K. 

The production comes from Hitmaker Studios, alongside Legacy Pictures, Masih Belajar Pictures and DT Films.om the people who have been building this particular horror universe from the beginning.

Release Date

The Doll Ghawiah will be released in Indonesian cinemas on October 29, 2026, and hopefully a streaming release date will follow.
