About Death House
Death House was developed as part of Sastra Film International’s expanding horror slate, and the project has underwent extensive script refinement, shifting toward a stronger emphasis on historical trauma, cursed lineage mythology, and visceral supernatural horror inspired by regional urban legends surrounding haunted estates and inherited curses.
The film’s production also focused on creating an immersive sense of isolation, with filming carried out in Cambodian locations chosen for their decayed architecture and naturally oppressive environments, where the cinematography relied heavily on low-light setups and natural shadows to heighten claustrophobia and psychological unease throughout the narrative.
Sastra Film positioned the project as part of its broader effort to expand Cambodian genre cinema internationally, alongside a growing slate of supernatural horror titles.
Director and Cast
Death House is directed by Mak Pichjuli and the cast includes Sothearith Pen and Dy PanhaVimealea.
