Seems we have a change of director from what was said below, as it was noted that Xavier Gens, who directed the original would be doing the sequel, but he has been replaced by Alexandre Aja.

The news no-one really wanted, a sequel to Under Paris is in the works, with a 2025 filming start scheduled.

In my review of Under Paris, i said it was watchable as a background movie I suppose, but it really fails to deliver and just ends up dragging before anything half decent actually happens.

But after that ending, and the fact the film did well on Netflix, a sequel was always going to happen.

The first movie, directed by Xavier Gens, followed a scientist trying to stop a major disaster in the Seine River, where a giant shark is lurking.

Under Paris is Netflix France's most-watched movie ever and ranks as one of the top French series as well. 

The film spent 15 weeks in the global top 10 non-English films, with 179.8 million hours watched, roughly 130.9 million views, and it's the second most popular non-English film on Netflix.

Actress Bérénice Bejo shared the news about the sequel, saying, 
We will start filming Under Paris 2 in September 2025. It won’t be just another sequel; it will be a completely different film... but still with a shark.

Director Xavier Gens had hinted at a possible sequel earlier this year, saying that if it happens, it could take place in a Paris that is completely flooded. [Under Paris 2 on IMDB]
