When the Mountain Gives Something Back
A young mother is forced into a desperate fight for her family when a terrifying creature escapes from the depths of an Appalachian coal mine in Dark Hollow, after part of the abandoned mine collapses, unleashing something that should have remained buried beneath the mountain, and as the creature moves into the surrounding area, the threat quickly becomes impossible to ignore, leaving one mother with no choice but to hunt the monster before it reaches her home.
What We Know About Dark Hollow
Dark Hollow is a creature-feature horror film written and directed by Daniel Byers, whose previous directing work includes the 2022 horror film Eradication, and the film is produced by Byers alongside Zachary Ludescher, Justin Herman, George Henry Horton, Ryan Scaringe, Jonathan Bloch, Will Pinke, Jacob Serlen, Vinay Chowdry and Juan Dominguez.
Behind the camera, Ludescher also serves as cinematographer, while Jacob Serlen handles editing, and the creature itself was designed and created by Jesse LeChok, who is credited for the film's special creature effects.
The movie's central setting seems particularly appropriate for a monster movie - an Appalachian coal mine, where the darkness beneath the ground provides somewhere for a creature to remain hidden before eventually breaking into the world above.
