Synopsis
Dracula: The Night Around Us offers a stripped-back, modern reimagining of Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire tale, transforming the gothic classic into an intimate psychological horror story set in a dark urban landscape.
The film follows Dr. John Seward, a troubled psychologist who has grown increasingly cynical about humanity after years working with patients and witnessing people at their lowest points, where his outlook begins to change when he forms a connection with his new neighbor Mina and her daughter Lucy, giving him a renewed sense of purpose and hope, but that fragile optimism is threatened when an ancient evil begins moving beneath the city.
Hidden away in the underground sewer system, Dracula has returned - no longer the mysterious aristocrat of old legends, but a modern predator operating from the shadows, and alongside his unstable servant Renfield, the vampire begins manipulating those around Seward, using fear, obsession, and psychological control to spread his influence.

Rather than retelling the familiar story of Dracula’s arrival in Victorian England, Schwab is presenting a contemporary interpretation that removes many traditional elements and focuses on the emotional core of the original tale - the struggle between humanity and an ancient force that feeds on weakness, featuring more as a hidden presence, influencing people from beneath the surface while slowly destroying the lives around him.

Festival Reception
Dracula: The Night Around Us premiered on the independent horror festival circuit, earning attention for its fresh approach to one of cinema’s most recognizable monsters, where the film had its world premiere at FrightFest in London and later won the Goul D’Or Award for Best Feature at the Portland Horror Film Festival.
